01 — The Editorial Workflow

Step-by-Step Publication Process

01

Topic Identification & Scope Definition

Topics are identified through three channels: reader correspondence submitted via the contact form, review of current published literature in men's wellness and nutrition, and editorial assessment of underserved subject areas. Each proposed topic undergoes an initial feasibility review to determine whether sufficient qualified source material exists to support coverage. Topics that cannot be adequately sourced are not taken forward.

02

Source Identification & Qualification

Before any editorial writing begins, a source dossier is assembled. Sources are drawn primarily from peer-reviewed publications in nutrition science, exercise physiology, sports science, and behavioural health. Where peer-reviewed material is unavailable, publications from recognised professional bodies are used. Grey literature, promotional content, and unattributed web sources are not used as primary references. Each source is recorded with its author, publication, date, and URL or DOI where available.

Peer-Reviewed Only DOI / URL Recorded No Promotional Sources
03

Drafting & Evidence Integration

With the source dossier confirmed, editorial drafting begins. Claims in the draft are written to reflect what the source material says — not what the author would prefer it to say. Hedging language is used where the source evidence is limited or contested. Absolute claims are not made unless the source literature is unambiguous and broadly consistent. All quantitative figures cited in the article are pulled directly from source documents and cross-referenced against at least two independent sources where possible.

04

Internal Editorial Review & Fact-Checking

The completed draft undergoes an internal editorial review. Every factual claim is checked against the cited source. Where a claim cannot be verified against its stated source, the phrasing is adjusted or the claim is removed. The reviewer also checks for tone: content that strays into instruction, personal wellness advice, or unsupported recommendation is flagged and revised. No article passes review that contains unsubstantiated health claims, regardless of how widely those claims circulate in the general wellness media.

Claim-by-Claim Verification Tone Review No Unsupported Claims
05

Publication & Source Attribution

Articles are published with the original date of publication and, where applicable, the date of most recent revision. Every article carries a reference section listing all sources used in its preparation. Where a source is available online, the URL or DOI is linked. Published articles are accessible to all readers without registration or paywall. The journal does not remove published articles retroactively; corrections are made via visible inline amendments and logged in a revision note appended to the article.

Post-Publication Review & Reader Corrections

Published articles are reviewed periodically as new research emerges in the relevant field. Readers who identify factual errors, outdated source references, or inaccurate claims are invited to submit a correction request via the contact form. All correction requests are assessed within five working days. Confirmed errors are corrected and a revision note is appended to the article. The journal thanks readers who contribute to the accuracy of published content.

02 — Source Standards

What Qualifies as a Source

The quality of editorial content is determined by the quality of its sources. Tarno applies a tiered approach to source qualification. Tier 1 sources are peer-reviewed journal publications. Tier 2 sources are publications from recognised professional or governmental bodies. Tier 3 sources are qualified practitioner commentary, which is used to support but not anchor factual claims.

Sources that fall outside this hierarchy — including commercial websites, wellness aggregators, personal blogs, and social media content — are not used as primary references.

T1

Tier 1 — Peer-Reviewed Journals

Published research articles in indexed academic journals covering nutrition science, sports science, exercise physiology, and behavioural health. Examples: Journal of the International Society of Sports Nutrition, British Journal of Nutrition, The Lancet.

T2

Tier 2 — Professional & Government Bodies

Guidance documents, position statements, and professional guidelines published by recognised professional and governmental health bodies. Examples: WHO, National Institutes of Health, Australian Institute of Sport, Ministry of Health Indonesia.

T3

Tier 3 — Qualified Practitioner Commentary

Commentary and published opinion from qualified nutrition professionals, registered dietitians, and accredited exercise scientists. Used to contextualise Tier 1 and Tier 2 evidence, not to replace it. Practitioner credentials are verified before use.

03 — Editorial Limits

What This Journal Does Not Publish

Personal Wellness Advice

Tarno does not publish content that purports to identify, address, or manage health concerns. Readers experiencing health concerns are directed to consult a qualified health professional. Nothing published on this site constitutes specialist advice.

Sponsored Editorial Content

No brand, product, or commercial service receives editorial coverage in exchange for financial consideration. The journal accepts no sponsored articles, advertorial pieces, or affiliate-funded reviews. All commercial disclosures are made visible to readers.

Rapid-Result Guidance

Articles promising rapid physical transformation or short-timeline results without qualified supporting evidence are not published. The journal's position is that sustainable wellness is built over months and years, not days. Content that contradicts this principle is not approved for publication.

04 — Corrections

Reporting an Error

If you identify a factual error, outdated reference, or inaccurate claim in a published article, the Tarno editorial team welcomes the correction. All correction requests are reviewed within five business days.

Confirmed errors are corrected within the article and a visible revision note is appended with the date of correction. The original content is not silently altered.
